75 Days Later
By admin | May 20, 2007
Time for a little recap of the past 75 days. This blog was basically an experiment to see what a person can do with a little dedication and the right attitude. This blog was never intended to become what it is now, I was actually thinking of setting up a travel blog, hence the name Bob Meets World. This never got off the ground and out of pure boredom I started posting about all sorts of things.
I covered a lot of topics like why you can’t create a folder called con on your windows desktop, Proof that Captain America wasn’t killed, Hello Kitty Airplanes, How I got $50,00 for free from Second Life,German Baby Making Manuals and Bullet Proof iPods. The list goes on and on.
It’s been a fun ride and I’ve met some great people along the way whom I talk with on instant messenger these days. The main goal was to try and figure out what topics attracts and keeps readers coming back for more. Not only for entertainment purposes but also to see if I could generate some online cash with blogging.
My total earnings in 75 days: $340,00. ($4,50 average per day) This number consists of payments received for sponsored reviews, contests, Adsense, Kontera and text-link-ads.
Ok, so it’s not going to buy me a new car but then again; I didn’t really focus on the money making theme in the first place like some other blogs do, like (Kumikos) cashquests.com and JohnChow.com for example. Also consider the amount of time spend blogging instead of wasting my money getting drunk in the pub. That’s quite a few dollars saved
A few tips for those of you just starting out in the world of blogging for money:
- Use social bookmark sites like Digg and Reddit with caution; Don’t get yourself banned like I did
- Network with your fellow-bloggers. Mybloglog and Fuelmyblog are just a few of the good places to get your blog registered on.
- Optimise your blog software. Don’t slap on a free theme without making it your own. Add a few personal touches to set yourself apart from the crowd. People will remember your blog.
- Surf other blogs. Analyze what they are doing right and wrong in your opionion and use this information for your own blog.
- Most important; Have fun!
What does the future bring for BobmeetsWorld.com?
To be honest; I don’t know if I am going to keep updating the blog but I won’t take it offline.
The main reason for keeping it online is the fact that my overall rankings are quite good. (With the exception of Google, who gave a lot of internal pages Page Ranks 4 and 5, but the main blog URL a PR1!)
- Technorati: Authority: 247 · Rank: 16,294 and 98 people that faved the blog.
- Alexa: 126,959
- Yahoo link: Inlinks (4,362)
- Mybloglog community holds 82 members and is growing.
- Average of 750+ unique visitors per day and over 500,000 pageviews per month
This can bring bigger and better money opportunities in the near future through sponsored reviews.
Besides, I still have a Nintendo DS-Lite I have to give away at the end of the month ![]()
Perhaps I will add an extra 25 days to BobmeetsWorld.com to make it a round 100 days.

Hey i love what you have done to your blog. I’m amazed how fast it’s grown. I’d recommend selling your blog instead of just letting it set. Selling it at it’s peak is always best.

^this site seems very accurate and realistic.
I’m the previous owner of techpuddle.com, and i sold that at it’s peak. I think that you can make some serious dough selling this site

I need to see how much my blog is worth now.
Early to bed, early ro rise…
I read a WIRE feed about Google and Javascript.
Another on MSoft buying an ad co. so their profile is more visible. This co. will keep 85% of the proceeds.

I would like to know your secret on earning $340,000 in 75 days.

Please don’t tell me you are done!! Aren’t you having too much fun? Won’t you be bored with all your extra time? You’ve become well loved by many bloggers and I know you would be missed. I feel that this could be just the beginning for you. You can turn this blog into anything you want. Blog about travel like you wanted! Bob, Bob, Bob….I’d hate to see you go.
(Psst… you know that if Kumiko buys it,she’s going to turn it all pink and girly right?? JK Kumiko! I love your pink and I own another blog that is very pink too.

Hi Julie! No, I don’t think I’d turn it pink…but maybe a light purple? That’d be great! What’s your price Bob?

Light purple….hmmmmm. Perfect! Poor Bob, he hasn’t even sold it and us girls are taking over the color scheme. So typical of us.

Wow Bob … I missed this post last time I was on the site. 750+ uniques per day? That’s amazing … I’ve been running my blog about the same amount of time you have and have nowhere near that
Maybe people just don’t want to read about how much things suck
Plus it looks like I really missed out by not hopping the Technorati fave train in time
Where does your traffic come from? Spill it! Muahah!

I think you guys are right…I shouldn’t stop. Pink or Purple?! nu-uh!

I’ve decided to start a niche related blog next to this one to see if that will be more profitable. Still setting it up and tweaking but as soon as its ready I will let you guys know
