End of Month Recap - May
By admin | June 3, 2007
Welcome to June. Besides me turning 30 and giving away my Nintendo DS Lite, let’s see what happened in May with a few numbers and statistics shall we?
- 11668 Unique visitors thought bobmeetsworld.com was worth their while, checking out 130045 pages (6.43 pages/visit) and consuming 4.18GB bandwidth.
- I just need to beat 13,866 blogs on Technorati to become number 1.
- Alexa finally let me into the top 100k, sitting on spot 99,181 as I type this. Very cool!
- For some reason nearly 175 people found my humble blog worthy enough to add to their RSS subscriptions. These stats seem to go up and down everyday but there is definately a climbing trend visable. I will think of a way to show my appreciation to everyone that subscribed soon, stay tuned

It’s quite remarkable how every time I think things can’t go better, they do. I would have never imagined three months ago that my new blog would be knocking on the technorati top 10,000 door and that nearly 12,000 people took the time to see what I had to say. Thanks to all you guys who made this possible and I hope next months numbers will be even more amazing!
Oh, like I mentioned in the beginning of this post, I am thinking of a way to reward those that have subscribed to my RSS feed and have some ideas. Subscribe now and stay tuned, don’t be the only person in the street that didn’t buy the lotto jackpot ticket
Oh, nearly forgot…this is how people found me through search engines..I still have 738 pages in supplemental hell though

Don`t want to miss a thing? Just subscribe to the full RSS feed :)!

Awesome Bob! Those are great numbers. You have come a long way in 3 months. I think you deserve a beer.

man bob. i’m impressed. 11k uniques w/ 6 pageviews per visit. thats rockin. I can’t wait to see what happens when those pages come out of the supplemental index and you get some page rank!

My pages seem to be stuck in the supplemental index though. How long would it take for the robots.txt to sort stuff out?

great job bob.

It could be as long as 36 days.

I would guess in the next 2 weeks you should see some improvement.
I was just looking around and you don’t seem to have a categories module running? How is google suppose to spider your content if you don’t have links for it to crawl?
June 4th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
Thanks Jake.
Nathan, I would think the “archive” button in the header is sufficient?
June 4th, 2007 at 10:31 pm
Alright. With the archive link you’re main posts will get crawled. However pages like http://bobmeetsworld.com/category/blog/ will not. I would leave your robots.txt file alone and let google pick them up if it can find them since you have the excerpts being displayed instead of full posts.

the robots.txt is not disallowing /category so I should ok right?
June 4th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
I would wait for the next update and then decide what to do about categories. There are several posts currently in the supplemental index with category/ in the url but leave it like it is for now. I bet 600-700 pages come out of the index on the next cache update.

600-700 pages getting out sounds great, wonder how much more organic traffic that’d bring.
