(gb) Time-saving Generators
By Mark | May 27, 2007
I was looking over my collection of bookmarks and noticed that I have collected a few nifty online generators — sites designed to do something for you. These could either take the boredom out of a task or provide you with something that perhaps you just don’t have the skill for or time to do on your own.
Mycoolbutton: You’ve seen them before — buttons that look as though they’re made of glass. This site does a decent job of creating them for you, giving you control over the color, size and even the ability to add an icon from their list of offerings (e.g., del.icio.us, YouTube, Technorati, and others).
Sloganizer: Having trouble thinking of a slogan for your site or blog? Check this site out. An alternative site to try is The Advertising Slogan Generator. At the very least, these two will get your creative juices flowing.
Color Palette Generator: coming up with a color palette based on an image is a snap with this site. Give it an image to process and it will give you color swatches and hex values for the colors. Now you can tie-in your CSS colors with your header image, for example.
Web 2.0 Name Generator: This one’s pretty cool. Just click a button and it spits out names that sound like Web 2.0 companies. How about Pixoyo, Jabberdog, Jaxify, Ooba, Photoblab, Realtune? Availability of the names it generates is not guaranteed, but it comes in handy if you’re looking for ideas.
Fake Name Generator: With this site you can create fake names and associated information: address, email address, Social Security Number, credit card number, and a bit more. This is bogus information, now, so don’t get any ideas about using the SSNs and credit cards it creates.
Official Seal Generator: Quickly create an official-looking seal. It now offers seven seals to choose from, each with the ability to control the image it displays, the size, the type of decoration is uses, its color, the wording, and more. Be sure to check this one out!
