Google Hates Me

By admin | May 23, 2007

So my beautiful Macbook has been returned to me today and I was thrilled! Bootin her up, opening my browser, ready to rock. Lets go and check my Google Adsense stats for today:

uhhhh, what?

Account Not Active

WTF?!

Great, so Google decided to screw me out of $110,00 I earned with them over the last two and a half months…
What is it with these guys? First they take the piss by giving my main page a PageRank of 1 and lots of internal pages PR4 and PR5 and then now steal my money.

I feel sorry that I had put my account on hold, so they would pay me whenever I wanted the money instead of the automatic payment after 100,00. Just thinking it would be a nice little savings account…
And how rude are they by closing my account but not removing the ads from my sites?

Google may have banned me, but atleast I have my Macbook back…

links from Technoratiyour blog is good…but we’re not going to let you make money from it with anything other than Adsense”. So Bob used Adsense. Bob earned over $100 with Adsense and was finally about to get paid when Google decided to ban Bob and take his hard earned money. [IMG bob_googleblurb.jpg] Google rubbed it in by still sending Bob letters about how to receive his Adsense payments. Bob told Google to eat his shorts. Bob made Googlestolemymoney.com

Welcome to the club! A club that nobody wants to be a member of! On the bright side, I honestly believe that you can make more money from not having Adsense. All it does is send visitors away from your site. Why not sell sitewide links in the posts for $10 each per month? With ten links, you’d make the money right back!

  12. Bob Says:
    May 23rd, 2007 at 10:11 pm

What ad program would you recommend for this Kumiko ?

  13. Kumiko Says:
    May 23rd, 2007 at 10:16 pm

Why do you need an ad program that will take 50%? Sell and advertise it yourself! Use the site and forums and contact people directly to let them know you’re selling links.

  14. Bob Says:
    May 23rd, 2007 at 10:25 pm

Hey Kumiko, I’m selling links…would you be interested ? ;)

He does cover a lot of technical stuff, and his home page had a sad story of getting banned by Adsense. Will he now decide to revert the birthday gift? I think not so. Although I feel pity for Bob, I see several people with similar cries. I can identify the possible reasons after analyzing the content and practices of his banned blog.

yes, kumiko is right, you can sell your ads by your own. btw, about your offering on my blog, what if we just make a review exchange each other?

  17. jake Says:

jeez bob i feel bad for you… i recently just passed the 100 mark and am feeling pretty good, if that was just taken away from me i think i would personally go kill the adsense team. and as for selling links wait till the next pagerank update and sell text link ads. i think it would be smarter to go through an ad company since they introduce the publishers to you. also if you are looking for an adsense alternative use bidvertiser, they are making me more then adsense and they have the same look and feel.
good luck with future monetization :)

  18. Julie Says:
    May 24th, 2007 at 12:29 pm

Hey Bob, well that stinks, but I don’t think you need them. You can definitely make more money elsewhere. I sent them an email the other day because crazyegg was showing me all these clicks on my ads for a couple of my blogs, but when I would check my adsense account they would show page impressions, but no clicks. They wrote me back and “assured” me everything was good on their end and that I can trust them.

They also mentioned that they do not support any program like crazy egg. So, it probably won’t be long before they ban me too because I’m going to continue to use it.

Did you see the Oprah video Jane May had on her site about working for Google? And I wondered what they spent all that money on. Geez!

(I redesigned my blog. Tell me what you think. I couldn’t change the header on the other template.)

  19. Bob Says:
    May 24th, 2007 at 1:16 pm

Julie, I know I don’t really need Adsense, it’s just the fact that I feel falsely accused of something I didn’t do and I don’t get a chance to defend myself.

I like the redesign. How come you never logged onto Google Talk ? :)

  20. Julie Says:
    May 24th, 2007 at 1:33 pm

Google seems to love accusing people of wrong doing don’t they? I swear they have a “you got banned from Google party” at least a few times a week.

I registered with Google talk and then added your email. I had to reboot my computer the other day and never logged back on. Oops! I’m glad you like the redesign! :)

    Bob & Kukimo…

I sell ad spots on my blog for $25/month. I also run them in 3 month contracts, so it is $75 every three months for my advertisers. Most of them consider that a really good deal.

    Bob & Jake…

I tried using Bidvertiser (actually I’m still using them) and my CTR percentage is horrendous! Currently it is sitting at .07%, while my Google CTR for the life of its use is sitting between 2-3%. It’s kind of skewed though because I give the Adsense the best spots…Medium Rectangle on my top three posts, while the Bidvertiser ads get Medium Rectangle on all my bottom posts.

For a short time I gave the top Medium Rectangle spots to Bidvertiser & was completely disappointed by their performance. Why do I keep using them when they’ve earned me just $3 compared to the nearly $300 I’ve earned from Google? Simple, because $3 is better than $0!

    Enjoy…

Well this is not the first time I have heard about this. When I first got my own blog up and running a few months ago I was all excited about using Google Adsense on it and making money. Ha! As soon as I made a post on Mylot asking how to get the ads on my blog I received a warning from one friend who said they did not recommend using Google. Then not to much later another friend made a discussion on Mylot telling people he got banned. Ever since then I have taken Google off of my blog. I was not going to let the same thing happen to me. My friend who got banned, got banned as soon as he reached the minimum $100. Ever since then I have heard from a lot of people saying the same thing. I even wrote a post on my blog a couple of months ago telling everyone that I did not recommend using Google.

Seems kind of fishy to me. Either they are way too strict, which I believe so or they are scamming a lot of people out of their money. This is why I will never use them again. I am so sorry that this has happened to you.

  33. Bob Says:
    May 27th, 2007 at 6:58 pm

I am using Kontara and text ads but the money the generate is neglectable :) I think the only “serious” money can be made with reviews.

  34. Vijay Says:
    May 28th, 2007 at 9:58 am

Kontera is certainly not worth making money full time on a blog. It sometimes serves to be annoying as well.. Text link ads could do a lot of good I suppose.

  35. Bill Weaver Says:
    May 29th, 2007 at 12:29 pm

For what it’s worth, TLA is pays me more than AdSense. Kontera is definitely less (but consistent) money, and the fact that it’s slightly irritating to the reader is a good argument against it. They’re targeted to very-high-traffic product sites, so on smaller sites it’s probably not the best fit.

  36. Bob Says:
    May 29th, 2007 at 12:54 pm

TLA does not seem to be getting me any advertisers though.

  37. Bill Weaver Says:
    May 29th, 2007 at 2:12 pm

Don’t know how long you’ve been in the TLA program but for me I got one link (on one of my sites) after a week or two, then nothing for a few more weeks. At that point a few more links showed up. Then a few weeks later one expired but another one or two were added. At some point a month or so ago a post-level TLA showed up too.

I got a bit frustrated with them at first but over three or four months have grown to appreciate them; especially since they do better for me than anything else. Wish more of my sites were in their program!

  38. Bob Says:
    May 29th, 2007 at 2:29 pm

I think about 6 weeks now. The only link that has been sold is some Cement Factory PDF (on the sidebar) and I have 2 post level links on a PR4 and a PR5 page which don’t even make me $5 per month! I have expressed my feelings about this to TLA but they seem to ignore whatever I say.
Really thinking of ditching them since it’s just not worth having crap on my blog.

  39. Matthew Jabs Says:
    May 29th, 2007 at 3:14 pm

Don’t ditch them Bob, give it some time.

Go to your TLA admin page & make sure your Alexa & Google PR are up-to-date. I always have to log in & update mine every time they change (about once a week). You’re bound to get more once you update your rankings…& if you already updated them, then just give it some time.

    Plus…$5/mth is better than $0/mth! ;-)

  40. la bloga Says:
    May 29th, 2007 at 3:27 pm

hey, that is interesant, thanks Matt.
Maybe the hard with TLA is because the sponsors selects you, buy if they find traphic with your page, stay a few of months, even the price could be $5 is permanent.

    June 7th, 2007 at 1:50 pm

Ok here’s what you should do:

Every day, for a week, send an e-mail to Google.

On this e-mail state that you will be sending them a check for $25 if they do something - something easy. Be creative.

At the end of the week, send them an e-mail that states because they violated the terms of your agreement, that you will be keeping the check and spending it on tacos.

Keep your e-mails and any responses - post them on this site.

That would be EXTREMELY - EXTREMELY funny.

Maybe just to me, but seriously…most of the stuff I do is just to make ME laugh.
