Google PageRank? Get Over It.

Dean Hunt asked me to have a look at his latest article in which he questions the importance of PageRank. Is it really that important that we drop everything in the weeks before it’s expected? It’s ok to discuss it but don’t lose sight of more important things like providing quality content for your visitors. PageRank will come no matter what, no point in discussing it endlessly.
Here’s a copy of Dean’s article, who also wrote some great stuff on Digg baiting over at JohnCow.com.
This is a war cry to all webmasters who have better things to do than to be listening to endless threads, blog posts and nonsense about the upcoming Google Pagerank Update.
It is that time of year again where all the SEO nerds will be on the edge of their seats waiting for the Google Pagerank update.
Frankly I hate this time of year, the forums are full of the same old threads, everyone predicts when the pr update will occur, then everyone complains that they didn’t get a fair deal.
Surely people have better things to do than spend hours in forums discussing a little green bar? Aren’t we all tired of this by now? We should just focus on improving our businesses and the rest will take care of itself.
So I am going to start a meme for a list of webmasters who prefer to get on with “real life” instead of dedicating all their spare time to the pagerank update.
If you feel the same way, then here is your chance to get hundreds of extra links to your site.

Gotta make this quick as I’m trying desperately to increase my Google Page Rank so just skim read your post…….
I’ll read it properly and probably join in once the green bar has finished it’s job……… best rush, no timmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Ha Ha!! I’ll do this today at some point :). As always a great point. I’m still trying to fully understand age rank and the reason it means anything and maybe you have well and truly nailed it. I should concentrate mainly on posting and making real contacts and everything else will fall in place!….. still will be nice to see if I acheive any page rank

The concept is that whilst most webmasters are talking about Pagerank, we are actually doing something positive.

Reading the last comment made me remember that I have always wondered how late into the process our efforts count? Was there a cut off point? Can we still scramble? I have never been able to figure this out.

Angie, it is always best to get in early. But we only started yesterday, so now is a great time to get involved.
