How I Got 10,000+ Unique Visitors in 2 Weeks

I had been blogging for just two weeks and hit the magic 10K marker on my unique visitors. How did I do it? A bet, $25 and a little luck.
People seem intrigued by two things: If you tell them there is something they can’t do and if you are willing to give them a reward if they prove the opposite.
I posted this article on reddit and the snowball effect came into play after about an hour, the hits just kept coming! I reckon would have been more hits if I had not announced the winner in this little contest when I did because people were still sending in the screenshots which were asked for in the bet article.
The unfortunate thing is that just around that time I was experimenting with my ad content and therefor missed out on a lot of revenue. Like I was expecting this massive amount of traffic!
The good news is that it seems that the blog has a steadily growing userbase which averages between 400-500 a day now. More people signing up for the RSS feed and the site is getting backlinked on more blogs every day.

Pretty ingenious. Nothing like a gimmick to get yourself started. I wonder where John Chow would be if he never got those Diggs early on.

On my email confirmation I got permalink URL for this post is

And after I click I got error message, that URL has been changed or etc, why you didn’t use plugin? to change Permalink URL without worrying about OLD Permalink? use this Plugins deans_permalinks_migration_v1.0
