January 2008 Google Toolbar Page Rank Aftermath

Well you were either (1) jumping up and down celebrating a rise in PR on your site, (2) sitting down wondering what went wrong, or (3) wondering why some of your sites went up while other went down.
One thing for certain, Google actually allowed you to see more of your back links for a change. However, there was no direct correlation to PR many webmasters report. Therefore if you had 3 back links showing one day and the next day you had over 90, but no increase in PR, then we know Google was merely showing you more of the actual links you really had all along.
If your site got a nice bump in PR, well congratulations. But we all know PR is no longer as important as it used to be. One additional observation is the update came sooner than expected. Does this mean Google is moving toward more frequent Toolbar updates? Possibly.
