Monkeys on Racing Dogs, Animal Cruelty?

By admin | April 29, 2007

After I just logged on to a sponsored review site, I came across an opportunity to write a post about a site called bananaderby.com. Ofcourse I tried to earn some money and made an offer which was declined. No problem, I will give them the post I was going to write anyway for free because they deserve some attention.

So what do they offer?

SERVICES
For its monkey races, Banana Derby provides monkey jockeys and dogs, monkey and dog housing, race course, silks, lighting, deluxe sound, professional staff, several shows daily, and media appearances. All animals meet or exceed USDA, State and Local requirements
THE BANANA DERBY CAN PROVIDE UP TO FOUR SHOWS PER
DAY. EACH SHOW LASTING APPROXIMATLEY 20 min., consisting of multiple races and audience participation.

Then they boast on the site about the “excellant photo opps” they can provide using their animals. Reminds me of the abused and abandoned chimpanzees and apes all over the world, the victims of the “take a picture with a monkey” tourist trade.

Obviously by looking at their site, I can’t tell how the animals are being treated so I am not judging them and this post is merely my personal opinion on the subject.

About Us
WE ARE AMERICA”S PREMIERE FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT
WE ARE THE GREATEST MEDIA ATTRACTION FOR ANY EVENT
ONCE SEEN THE BANANA DERBY IS NEVER FORGOTTEN
Our Business
COMPLETLEY SELF CONTAINED FAMILY SHOW,AVAILABLE IN ALL FIFTY STATES

A family show? I wouldn’t want my kids to see something like this and assume it’s normal to use abuse animals to make a living. And I wonder how these guys got onto a sponsor review site, surely there must be an ethical line somewhere when it comes to acepting or refusing clients?
Well anyway, there you have it. The bananaderby.com got a review for free.

LOL…yeah, I actually considered bidding on this one, too. But then I couldn’t think of a good angle, so I passed. They didn’t have much content either. Clearly their line of work is profitable because they were offering a decent range there.

When I logged in and saw this I briefly considered writing about it until I went to the site and viewed the pictures. Pure cruelty if you ask me. Besides, half of the bids I put in are declined. If I was declined by a site which forces monkeys to ride on greyhounds I’d probably stab myself with a pencil.

LOL- I probably would be declined. It seems I can’t get any advertisers to approve me now. But they sure are approving blogs with crappy rankings and those who spam their blogs with paid posts.

I saw this Banana Derby last week at the Queen City Fair, and what I witnessed there was no animal abuse. The monkeys actually looked like they enjoyed it. The more the audience clapped the more the monkeys got excited. You could tell they were having a good time. Throughout the show you could also tell there was a clear bond between the Monkeys and their trainer.

I saw the Banana Derby in Florida and my kids loved it! The animals seemed to be enjoying themselves and the trainers never showed a sign of aggression or abuse towards them. Those black and white pictures on the website are clearly historical, and have no prevelencee to what was going on at the beach. The dogs don’t where muzzles, and the monkies were very excited. I think it was a fun experience for my family.
