My Thoughts On Kontera
By admin | June 9, 2007
I signed up with Kontera on the 14th of March, roughly 90 days ago and so far it has made me about $37,00 which I can’t convert into cash because there’s a $100,00 payout limit. Nearly half of that amount was made on the first day, when one of my articles got on the frontpage of reddit. Ever since I have had nowhere near those numbers and I got tired of the whole Kontera thing. Their admin panel is the worst I have seen compared to all the other advertiser sites. If I have a look at the number of impressions (46,204), clicks (519), CTR (1.12%), revenue (37,96) and ECPM ($0,82) it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out it’s just not worth it.

Page loading times often suffer from the Kontera code and at times it just does not show up at all or displays bogus information. I’m done with Kontera as of today and will see if there are better alternatives out there. James from Reality Wired mailed me that perhaps intelliTXT was worth a shot as he noticed his earnings were way better than what he was making with Kontera. Another “earner” which has done me no good and slows down the site is Amazon. Disabled them too. Is there anyone here that does make money with them?

Personally, I haven’t seen many positive thoughts regarding Amazon.

Amazon hasn’t really done anything for me, either….on a music blog…so I took it down.

Doesn’t johnchow.com make money on Kontera? I think they’re evil buddies or something.

heh, I think John makes money with everything. That’s one of the perks of being a famous blogger.

I removed Kontera yesterday too. I wasn’t giving much. I am considering trying out IntelliTXT too.

Some people report some really great earnings with Amazon and Kontera, but I don’t see how they do it.
Well, I know that Kontera is best when you have their links set as the same color as the rest of the links on your site - kind of tricking people into clicking them, making people think it’s part of your site.
Amazon - maybe you have to throw out really, really positive reviews? I’m guessing your posts would end up more like sales pitches than real posts. I don’t think I could do that for very long.

I think Amazon an Kontera work best on niche blogs

I took Kontera off my blog over the weekend as well, I’ve had it for four months and my earnings stalled two months ago…

Kontera is a bit weak if the traffic is not there, but I have seen it gradually pick up as my traffic increases. I am going to keep it for at least 6 months. Maybe by then I’ll get a check.

I have same experience too. But since I have around USD45 something on my account, I will continue using it at least until I earn USD 100. After that, I might reconsider it later. I earn in a range of 0.4 to 1.9 daily
