The Benefits of Having Guest Posters on your Blog (gb)
By Matthew Henrickson | June 2, 2007
This post was guest blogged by Matthew Henrickson, Owner and Co-Author of Blog About Your Blog.
I blogged about the benefits of guest posting last time I guest blogged here. In that post I mentioned that it was beneficial not only to a blogger doing guest posts, but to a blog as well. Having guest posters can really impact your blog in a good way.
Introducing Another Opinion
Not only will your readers get the opinions you have, they can have the occasional “other side” when someone else guest blogs. Everyone is different, whether it is thought or how they write.
Different Writing Style
Speaking of how someone writes, each blogger has their own writing style. Writing styles may be similar, but they are never the same. Recently I have been courted by other bloggers to guest blog, because they like my s.t.y.l.e… style. Having your own unique style will definitely pay off and make you different from the rest.
Team Effort?
I have to admit, I have never really run a successful blog on my own. Recently after starting Fantasy Football N’ Stuff I got a blogging partner. And of course, the main idea behind Blog about your Blog, is a community blog. So on each of these I always had someone else writing with me.
It’s a Partnership
With having a “team” or other guest bloggers, you may even get a partner. By having a partner I was able to run some great ideas through them, and then, some not so great ones. With that you can also delegate work that may need to be done around your blog, such as upkeep, comments, design, or content.
It’s Easy!
You don’t have to post as much if you have someone else posting on your blog. The rule of thumb for “successful” blogs is that you should at least post daily. With another blogger that means you need to post only 3-4 days a week! This allows you to focus your efforts elsewhere, whether it is marketing, SEO, design, or traffic.
Those are just a few great reasons to have guest bloggers on your site. Each blog is different, so all these tips may not fit you, but they could. Whether you want a full-time guest blogger, or a partime once a week guy, it’s beneficial to all involved.
I currently guest blog on several blogs, and would consider doing a few more if the interest is there. Are you currently guest blogging? Do you allow guest bloggers? Let us know why or why not!

Guest-blogging seems to be a pretty strong trend these days and one that I support. I’ve been guest-blogging for a few places here and there (including here and BAYB), but very soon I’ll be announcing a guest on my own blog for a change.
