The Three Months Milestone
By admin | June 8, 2007
My blogging adventure started exactly three months ago today and it’s been a rush. I never had expected the numbers to get this high, up there with some fantastic blogs. I have been fortunate enough to make a few dollars on the side and have decided to invest these in a few new projects. You don’t have to start a site from scratch, there’s plenty of good stuff out there, waiting to get bought and monetized. One thing I tend to do is rush into things, forgetting that I have a regular 9 till 5 job on the side, so I had to prioritize my workload. Here’s a short breakdown of current activities.
A few things I’m actively working with at the moment:
- Sheetr.com - Free Proxy service which purely makes money through ads. Nearly getting more uniques per day than this blog with very little advertising done.
- BobJones.name - Another Free Proxy service, same scheme as sheetr.com, different name.
- CelebGossipSpot.com - A “blog” which automagically updates itself with the feeds of popular celeb blogs. Makes little money with little effort. (I’m not planning on keep going with this, it’s an experiment and I will probably end up selling the site again).
- SearchMovieTime.com - Enter your postcode and we will tell you which movie is where at what time. (U.S. only). Trying to make money with CommisionJunction. (Very new to this and still trying to figure out what works best).
- Cost:$10 for the domain.
- Cost:$1,99 for the domain.
- Cost:$130 for the domain, template, code and installation.
- Cost:$149 for the domain, code and installation.
So I have now invested in three extra potential earning sources. Worst case scenario: If it won’t pick up in a couple of months, I can always sell again for the same prize or even slighty more since search engines will have picked these sites up and increased their value. I’m obviously hoping to make a nice steady gain every month so I can invest in something bigger.
Some more things I was/am planning on doing something with:
- BobMeetsMac.com - A niche blog focused on Apple products, I found it hard to find the time to update this with good posts so at the moment I’ve put it on the shelves.
- BobMeetsGirl.com - Recently registered since I figure the whole BobMeets*.com might be a nice marketing gimmick. Possibly this will become a dating site or a sexy celeb photo gallery, who knows
- WrongBob.com - Started out as a joke, putting up emails I keep getting, addressed to the wrong Bob Jones. Unfortunatelly I had set the account up in a way that most of those got automatically deleted so I don’t have as much material to work with anymore. Nice domain though which I’m sure will be worth something someday.
- LeaderBoardsLive.com - Following the Windows Live hype, I wanted to provide a site where XBOX360 Gamers could check their rank for any online XBOX360 Game. Unfortunately to get the feeds for these stats proved much more difficult than I thought. Might still set this one up if I can find someone who is technically capable enough to help out.
- GoogleStolemyMoney.com - This I started after Google banned me from AdSense. Browsing the web I saw many similar stories and I wondered why nobody seemed to try and do anything about it. You can register here for free and post your story with no moderation done (Unless you’re spamming). Has not picked up as much as I thought it would. Has potential still.
- FeedSheet.com - Once very excited about this opportunity, I ran into a brick wall because I lack the technical skills or the funds to get this going. (Imagine a mixture of RSS Feed Submissions, Digg, Reddit and iGoogle and you’ll get an idea where I want to go with this). Still feeling this one could become big if it’s ever going to be created.
So as you can see, I have not been sitting on my ass these past three months. All that and trying to boost this blogs rankings and readers. If there’s anyone reading this, with technical skills or just a great attitude, don’t hesitate to get in contact with me. I’d love to hear and discuss ideas with like minded people.
Blogging has opened a whole new world for me, even though I have been online since the late 90s. I’d especially like to thank you guys , my readers, of whom many have become friends. All we need a little luck and a lot of hard work!

I hope one day I will make enough with these so I can quit my job and start even more projects

I’m extremely interested in making automated, targeted feed websites.
The ones I’ve seen out there don’t seem to be doing a very good job, or aren’t in topics I’m interested in.
I’m running two sites right now, ReviewYou.net and PYSIH.com - there will soon be a third (my name) site up which details my further adventures.
I totally know what you’re feeling, Bob, I’m in the same boat. Lots of ideas, trying to teach myself some PHP + CSS and getting my feet wet.
If my wife was more supportive, it would be easy.
Unfortunately, with two kids that I watch in the morning and an easily-angered wife, I am limited with what I can do with my time.

Your post kind of inspired me a bit, Bob.
On my first post on the new site I talked about above (jeffdavisishere.com), I posted about my other blogs’ numbers from both Adsense and Analytics.
It’s remarkable how different the two sources are when it comes to your actual numbers. My wordpress.com stats have numbers between the two.

J.D, it’s not hard setting up an automated site. Key is that you’d need a catchy domain and niche to make some money with it. And let me know when your coding skills are up to scratch, I might have a job for you

@Desty, Yeah I took a bit of work on and I now need to sort out what I think will work and which won’t. I will keep you guys updated
