Time for a new phone

By admin | March 24, 2007

My 12 month contract is nearly up and its time to go shopping for a new phone. Three, my current provider hasn’t got what I want. Its time for a Smartphone. (The iPhone probably won’t be here till the end of this year which is the only reason this post exists)

After a few days of clicking and comparing online I have narrowed it down to two possible candidates: the BlackBerry 8700G or the Nokia E61.

The BlackBerry has a proven track record but the E61 seems to have more possibilities.

Sofar the E61 is the big favorite due to its connectivity options (WiFi, GPRS, 3G, Bluetooth 2.0) The BlackBerry is said to be more responsive due to the fact that the Symbian OS can be sluggish at times. With great power comes great memory use I guess.

One more important issue would be the compatibility with my macbook, fortunately I came across this guy’s blog which holds all the secrets on the E61’s relationship with OS X.

Will be going to the shops tomorrow to have a real look and feel comparison.

links from Technorati This gives me the possibility to browse through new articles while I’m on my way to work in the train and adds about 40 minutes of researchtime a day. Again, if you come across a hot item you want to post straight away, I suggest you get a BlackBerry [IMG :)] If you liked this post, buy me a glass of milk Share This

I heard the other day that Apple was trying to push the Iphone out early, as in next month.
