Danny Cipriani alleges that England coach Eddie Jones inquired about his sex life with his ex-girlfriend Kirsty Gallacher, which made the rugby star feel uneasy.
Cipriani, who has played for England 16 times, made the claims in his new autobiography “Tries, Lies and Meat Pies.” He described an incident during a training camp in 2018 when Jones asked him about Gallacher, a television presenter.
According to Cipriani, Jones asked him if he had “banged” Gallacher and questioned why their relationship ended. The rugby player said he felt uncomfortable and didn’t understand why the coach was interested in his personal life.
Cipriani also mentioned that Jones would often make comments about his celebrity relationships, including those with actresses Kelly Brook and Caroline Flack. He said these remarks made him question whether he was being treated fairly.
The rugby star emphasized that he respects Jones as a coach but believes there should be boundaries when it comes to personal matters. He hopes that by sharing his experience, it will encourage others to speak up about similar situations.
In response to Cipriani’s claims, a spokesperson for the Rugby Football Union (RFU) said they were unaware of any formal complaint regarding this matter. They stated that the RFU does not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment and encourages anyone with concerns to come forward.
This is not the first time Cipriani has spoken out about his experiences within the England setup. In 2018, he criticized the coaching staff for their handling of his international career, stating that he felt scapegoated and unfairly treated.
Cipriani, who currently plays for Bath Rugby, hopes that by sharing his story, it will contribute to a more inclusive and respectful environment within the sport. He believes that everyone should be treated equally, regardless of their personal lives.
Eddie Jones, who has been the head coach of the England rugby team since 2015, has not yet responded to Cipriani’s allegations. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold and if any further action will be taken.
