Borussia Monchengladbach suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich as Harry Kane failed to find the back of the net. The visitors came from behind to secure their third consecutive victory with second-half goals from Leroy Sane and Mathys Tel.
The match kicked off with both teams looking to assert their dominance early on. Monchengladbach had a promising start, with Jonas Hofmann coming close to opening the scoring in the 13th minute. However, his effort was denied by Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
As the first half progressed, Bayern began to find their rhythm and create opportunities of their own. Robert Lewandowski, the Bundesliga’s leading scorer, had a couple of chances to put his team ahead but was unable to convert.
In the 36th minute, Monchengladbach capitalized on a defensive error from Bayern to take the lead. A misplaced pass from Alphonso Davies allowed Florian Neuhaus to intercept the ball and set up Lars Stindl, who calmly slotted it into the back of the net.
Trailing by a goal, Bayern came out strongly in the second half, determined to turn the tide in their favor. Their efforts paid off in the 49th minute when Sane equalized with a well-placed shot from outside the box.
Buoyed by the equalizer, Bayern continued to push forward and were rewarded with a second goal in the 76th minute. This time, it was Tel who found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Kingsley Coman.
Monchengladbach fought hard to get back into the game, but their efforts were in vain as Bayern held on to secure all three points. Despite his best efforts, Kane was unable to add to his goal tally on the night.
With this victory, Bayern Munich maintained their position at the top of the Bundesliga table, while Monchengladbach dropped to eighth place. The defeat will be a disappointment for Monchengladbach, who were hoping to build on their recent positive results.
Both teams will now turn their attention to their upcoming fixtures as they continue their pursuit of success in the Bundesliga.
